Of course, many people believe that technology, especially smartphones, decreases productivity, which is often true, but there are so many more ways that technology helps. One huge example is automation; Thanks to technology advancements, there are tools available to business owners that automatically pay bills, schedule appointments, and respond to emails. This frees up a lot of time for you so that you can focus on more important tasks.

Not so long ago, your customer base would only reach as far as the people that walked past your store. These days, the case is completely different. Thanks to the internet, it is now easier than ever to create a professional business website, from which customers can purchase your products and services. If you need to find clients, because you own a construction business, for example, you can easily find a project online, rather than searching through newspapers or calling up your local council. Social media and digital marketing campaigns are also incredibly successful at bringing in customers, sometimes even more successful than even TV advertising.

Without customers, your business wouldn’t exist, which is why many businesses are constantly aiming to improve their customer service. Thankfully, advancements in technology are a huge help with this. Social media is particularly useful, as it allows you to communicate important changes, sales, or discounts to your customers, and allows them to contact you with any important questions or complaints. The contact page on your business website should link to your social media pages, as well as suggest other ways that your customers can contact you should they need to. Because of technological advancements, most businesses now offer 24-hour contact services, so that customers can get help at any time of the day or night.

Of course, everything has its downsides, and technology is no exception to this rule, but I hope you’ll agree that the benefits are plenty and hugely outweigh any negatives. If your business isn’t very tech-savvy, I hope that this has shown you just what you’re missing out on.
