4 Ps That Will Help You Get Ahead In Business
Starting a small business is an empowering prospect for anyone. But for women it takes on a whole new level of meaning. Every woman who chooses the path of entrepreneurship, whether she’s aware of it or not, is making a statement. She’s showing the world that she’s no longer prepared to endure the fundamental inequalities of the workplace. She’s no longer going to turn a blind eye to the gender pay gap which could still take centuries to close. She’s going to take her career into her own hands on her own terms.
But in a fast paced and extremely competitive environment, an entrepreneur needs every millimeter of inside track she can get when it comes to staying ahead of the competition. While there’s no set way to do this, whatever the nature of your business you’d do well to abide by these 4 Ps…
Precision is hugely important in business and can be applied in a number of ways depending on the nature of your enterprise. It could mean using a laser cutting process to ensure the precision engineering of components for your manufacturing business. It could mean the attention to detail you apply to your employee training and operational protocols. Or it could simply mean the precision with which you target your niche market and use market research to ensure that you’re always catering to their needs.
Rightly or wrongly, we live in an extremely visually oriented time. Your customers are bombarded with images from businesses trying to target them on a daily basis. We’re predisposed to make decisions about products, foods and people based upon their image. The image sharing platform Instagram has 800 million active users on any given month. In this climate, no entrepreneur can afford to overlook the importance of presentation in their branding, their online presence or in their physical presence. It doesn’t matter how great the services you offer may be or how well you cater to the needs of your clientele, in a visually oriented society, your competitors with flashier presentation may wind up poaching your hard earned customers.
Your vision and your work ethic serve as a guiding light to your employees, but let’s not forget that it’s their hard work, ingenuity and integrity that help to take your business to new heights. If you’re to remain successful it’s vital that your employees are empowered and properly motivated. This is done by ensuring that training is an ongoing part of their professional development and you take steps to recognize and reward their hard work and endeavor.
The lot of an entrepreneur has never been an easy one and this risky path is beset on all sides by pitfalls and hazards. Risk and failure are daily realities for those who choose to run their own businesses. But the most successful entrepreneurs out there have shown that success lies in our ability to pick ourselves up after we fall and bounce back stronger, smarter and hungrier than ever.
Remember these 4 Ps and you’ll steer your business in the right direction!
