Everything A Blogger Needs In Their Home Office

Contributory

by | Apr 24, 2018

Bloggers get a lot of bad press because people assume hardly any effort goes into their work. On the contrary, blogging is a lot like many other jobs relating to online media. There’s a great deal of planning and effort that goes into each post. It’s a full-time job for some people, a business they need to keep afloat.

As such, the best bloggers all have a good home office set up to help them work better and more effectively. If you’re looking to create the dream office at home, then here’s everything you need:

Reliable Internet

A blogger with bad internet will turn bald within 48 hours as they can’t stop pulling their hair out in sheer rage. We all hate trying to do things and publish posts when our internet loads pages slowly, and cuts out completely. For a blogger, fast & reliable internet is a must. Not only that, but the router should be in your home office to guarantee the best connection possible! Shop around for the best service provider in your area, always checking speed and reliability.

A High-Quality Computer

Naturally, a computer will be your biggest tool as a blogger. It’s where you do all your work, and the quality of your computer is very important. You need one that’s fast, reliable, and will last a long time. MacBooks tend to be the best option because they have excellent antivirus protection, and are generally super quick. Ideally, you should also go for something portable so you can take it with you wherever you go and never be away from work.

A Good Printer

You may wonder why you need a printer if all your blogging is done online. While it’s true that most of your content gets produced online, there’s still a need to print stuff out. You may need to print out freelance contracts that you get given to produce work for other companies, or you could print out your research as it can be much easier to make notes on paper than on a computer. Either way, you should look for a laser printer. Something like the Brother HL-3140CW is good as its wireless and can print very quickly. Plus, Brother toner is fairly cheap to buy and lasts a long time, which keeps running costs down. It’s always handy to have a printer, particularly when scouring through lots of articles for research.

The Best Keyboard

Personally, I think all bloggers should purchase an external keyboard for their home office. There are two reasons for this. One; if you use an external keyboard for your portable computer, you can then elevate the screen, so it’s eye-level and more ergonomically pleasing. This helps avoid the painful ‘bloggers slouch’ posture, which you get from being hunched over typing every day. Two; you can buy a keyboard that’s a real joy to type on. Often, small laptops can be tough to type on, so a big external keyboard helps you feel things better and generally become a better typer.

With these four things, you’ll have the foundations of a great home office. Now, you can start blogging a lot better and more effectively.
