From the sound of this blog post title you probably already know what this about. You guessed it. I'm teaching you the perfect formula to help you determine what to invest in your website.
How much should I invest in my website?
Notice I said invest and NOT spend? When you spend money, you're more than likely not going to see a return other than the thing you got out of it. That's not what you want when you hire someone to build your website.
Instead you should be making an investment into a website that will provide a return for your business. That's the difference between just having a website versus a website that works for you.
So I put together a formula plus few points that will help you make the decision of what to invest in your website. So let's get into it …

Know Your Numbers
Have you created a financial forecast for your products & services? Example: I need to sell :insert product name: 10x per month to make $:amount goes here: Repeat for all offers and decide your goal revenue.
Will your website be used to help generate leads or makes sales to reach your goal revenue? Take 10% of your goal revenue to create your marketing budget. Example: My goal revenue is $100k so my marketing budget is $10k.
Create a Marketing Budget
Your website creation and upkeep falls under the marketing budget. How much of your marketing budget do you want to allocate toward your website? If your website will require advanced features like a store, memberships, course, etc to help you achieve your goal revenue then you will probably invest at the top of your marketing budget.

Find a Designer that Specializes in Your Industry
What next? Find a designer that specializes in making sites for your industry. This is important! Share your goals with your designer. Don’t be afraid to talk about money. Being transparent about your goals helps you and the designer strategize the best way to build your site in order to achieve your goals.
Wrapping Up
Remember that part about upkeep? Websites need to be updated and maintained. And they always break. You need a dedicated IT person on your team or your designer/developer on retainer to help you with upkeep.
