How To Transform Your Blog Into A Profitable Business

by | Jun 18, 2018

Blogging has taken the world by storm, so much so that you can now turn a small blog into a proper business. That’s right; you can have a company with employees that all work together on this blog, and help generate loads of money. There are examples out there of very successful blogs that make more than most traditional media companies these days!

I suppose the question is; how do you go from blog to business?

Start bringing in assistance

The only way you will grow your blog, so it’s big enough to be a business is to hire help. Start bringing in employees and paying them to do certain tasks. You could have one person manage your content scheduling, another person maintaining your site, with a few others writing the content and sharing the posts online. By doing this, you can start pumping out more content, while ensuring it stays at a high level of quality. You could even expand your blog to include different sections or even start different blogs that are part of your main blog. Obviously, the more content you make, the more opportunities you have of bringing traffic to your site, which increases the revenue you make.

Use software to manage your operations

Treat your blog like a proper business by implementing software to manage operations. This includes using things to track your expenses, pay employees, and so on. You can get individual pieces of software to do this, or use an ERP like SAP Business One, which brings them all together. The benefit of using software is that you can keep everything in shape and ensure you grow steadily without taking on too much and spending more than you can afford. This prevents problems where you try and grow your blog too quickly and end up ruining it.

Explore as many money-making opportunities as you can

Clearly, doing the first two things will only get you so far. In reality, you’ll never grow a blog without making enough money to actually keep the business afloat. A big part of this is gaining web traffic and maintaining a popular blog, but another part is ensuring you have as many money-making opportunities as possible. Explore things outside of the traditional ad revenue you get from a blog. Talk to other businesses to try and form potential sponsorships for your blog. Think about developing an app that lets people read your blog with ease, and possibly charging a small fee to download it. You could even go down the merchandising route and start selling mugs, coasters, pens – or anything else – with your brand logo and name on. If you want to grow your blog into a profitable business, then you have to start thinking about it as one and doing what you’d do in any other business; explore ways of increasing profits!

Think about everything we’ve talked about in this post if you want to take your blog to the next level. Don’t settle for a small personal blog when you can grow it into a business.
