What To Write On Your About Page
Did you know your about page is one of the most visited places on your website? It’s also probably one of the hardest pages you’ll write as well. I get it! It’s hard writing about yourself sometimes.
Your about page actually helps you get a one-up on your competition by allowing you to showcase what makes your brand special and relatable to your ideal client. This is your opportunity to tell your audience your brand story and show them that you’re the best at what you do.Â
Today, I’m sharing copy ideas that will make your about page pop with personality. You can also download my Free About Page Template for your website. All you have to do is plug in your own images, colors, and content. Pretty sweet, right?
Talk About What You Do & Who You Help
Within moments of a visitor clicking on your about page they should know exactly what you do and who you help. If you haven’t done it already then your homework is to get really clear on what you do and who you help. You can’t convince anyone that you’re the ideal person to work with when you aren’t sure yourself.
Share Your Brand Story
This should be pretty easy. Tell your audience what made you pursue whatever it is that made you launch your business. Personally, I started an online hair extensions company and I needed a website. Sharing your story on your about page makes you relatable and relative.

Show Off Your Personality
What does your best friend love about you? Make it point to show it off! Add the random fact that you love ice cream and pickles (together) or that you’re obsessed with Harry Potter books as an adult! Sharing your uniqueness is great way to connect with your audience.
Get Them On Your Email List
Just because it’s your about page doesn’t mean you should miss an opportunity to convert a visitor into an email list subscriber. Your about page is one of the most visited pages of your website; you should leverage that traffic to get email list sign-ups. I highly recommend creating a freebie such as an ebook, guide, or checklist as an opt-in incentive.
Add Social Proof
Are your clients always bragging on you? Show off your raving reviews. My advice is to include a review from past client with their review, client photo, and link to their website or social profile. This helps build trust with your audience and show that your products or services have actually helped someone before.
Close With A Call To Action
A solid call-to-action (CTA) is a must have for every page of your website. Call to actions are simply the action you want your visitors to take on a page. Your about page is a great way to segway into your product or service offerings. You can create a section at the bottom of the page that includes a call to action statement and button to take action.
Here’s A Quick Round Up
If you really want to take full advantage of your about page traffic and create new leads you should create the following content for your about page;
- Talk about what you do and who you help
- Share your brand story
- Show off your personality
- Add an email opt-in with a freebie
- Add social proof with a testimonial
- Close with a call-to-action
