What To Do When Your Startup Has Stalled

Contributory

by | Jun 18, 2018

Nothing is worse than that moment of realisation that your business growth has stalled and your rise through the different stages of success has finally plateaued. It’s confusing, irking, frustrating, nerve-jangling and insomnia-inducing, and that’s because it can be so darn tricky to work out why this has happened. Everything was going so well and then, all of a sudden, kaput. The accelerator needle stopped climbing, the engine got a bit quieter and that pull you got so used to feeling suddenly felt lackluster.

The default thing to do in this situation is looking for somewhere to place the blame. The market, the saturation of social media platforms, your competitors, anything. Don’t do this. Instead, head to your office bathroom, peek in the mirror and say, “maybe it’s me?”

So many entrepreneurs and business leaders make the rookie mistake of thinking those strategies that worked when they launched their business would be the same ones that help their business grow. But this is very rarely the case.

So, without further ado, here are some strategies that will help to keep your growth going strong.

Look At Your Pricing Again

Nothing will cripple a startups growth more than charging too much or too little because this will drastically impact your revenue. Charge too much and you cut off the accessibility to your product or service and risk taking it away from the people who might be a perfect match. Charge too little and you won’t make the money to take the next step. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to change the pricing; you could just find a way to add more value to what you offer.

Boost Your Branding

The most successful, ever-growing brands out there all have instantly recognizable branding. It’s what sets them apart from the crowd. It’s what makes people connect the dots the moment they come across a part of your brand. It could be your logo, your brand colors, the creative copywriting on your website, your blogs, the filter you use on your Instagram, the font you use – everything. That’s what gets people excited and lets them believe they are part of something their peers will appreciate and recognize.

Technology Is Ever-Evolving

If you’ve felt your business stumble and stall, it is always worth looking at your technology or, better yet, going down the strategic IT consulting route to have an expert in the field take a peek at what you’re rocking and where you can improve. It might be that your not effectively taking advantage of cloud services, your not capitalizing on mobile technology to boost remote working, or just don’t have the right devices to maximize your efficiency. We live in a rapidly moving world and technology is at the heart of this revolution, so use it as well as you can.

Actively Hunt For Opportunities

T can be way too easy to sit back and wait for things to come to you these days, but you need to be super proactive and hunt for ways to chase new opportunities. Inbound marketing is a great way of doing this, but it won’t be enough to rely on this alone. You need to proactively up your outbound efforts too.
